Banded Lateral Walk Prep Drill
A banded lateral walk prep drill uses a mini band above knees for short side steps—firing glute medius before squats, runs, or long walking days.
A banded lateral walk prep drill places a mini band above the knees or ankles—quarter squat stance, tension out, small steps side to side without rocking the torso—to wake glute medius before squats, runs, or long walks. Ten steps each direction for two sets is enough; avoid burning out hips pre-lift.
Keep toes forward and knees aligned with hips. Skip if band snaps skin; wear shorts over the band.
Common questions
-
Band above knees or ankles?
Above the knees is the common default for squat prep. Ankle placement increases lever demand—use it only when knee placement feels easy and control stays perfect.
