Glycemic Load

Glycemic load (GL) estimates how much a serving of food will raise blood glucose by combining the glycemic index with the amount of carbohydrate in that portion. A food can have a high glycemic index but a moderate load if the serving is small, which is why GL is often more practical for meal planning than GI alone.

Choosing lower-GL meals and snacks tends to support steadier energy, appetite control, and metabolic health across the day.
