Lateral Step-Over Obstacle Drill
Lateral step-over drills build hip clearance stepping sideways over low obstacles—useful for pets and clutter when forward walking is already strong.
The lateral step-over obstacle drill steps sideways over a low cone or pool noodle on the floor—training hip abduction and clearance for pets, hoses, and clutter without forward tripping. Use a counter for hand support; keep obstacle low until lateral band walks are easy.
Two sets of six steps each direction suffice.
