Mitochondrial respiration is aerobic energy production in muscle cells—enhanced by sustained zone-2 work, sleep, and balanced training load.
Mitochondrial respiration is how muscle cells use oxygen to produce ATP in mitochondria—the aerobic engine improved by zone-2 volume, sleep, and adequate protein. More mitochondria support fat oxidation and repeat-effort recovery.
High-intensity work alone does not maximize this adaptation.
