Muscle Protein Synthesis

Muscle protein synthesis (MPS) is the process of building new muscle proteins from amino acids—especially leucine—after training and meals. Resistance exercise sensitizes muscle to protein for roughly 24 hours; total daily protein and leucine-rich sources drive the response.

MPS does not mean unlimited protein per meal; excess is oxidized or used elsewhere.
