Staggered Stance Push-Up Block

A staggered stance push-up block bridges incline and floor push-ups—offset hand positions that load the chest with less demand while training anti-rotation bracing.

A staggered stance push-up block bridges incline and full floor push-ups—one hand slightly forward, one back, switch sides each set—loading the chest with less total demand than full push-ups while teaching anti-rotation bracing. Keep hips level, core tight, and elbows at a moderate angle.

Run two to three weeks before standard floor reps if incline felt easy but floor fails. Three sets of six to ten per side configuration.

Common questions

  • How long should you stay on staggered push-ups?

Usually two to three weeks while reps stay clean. Move to standard push-ups when you can hit three sets of ten with level hips and no neck craning.
