Chair Seat Pan Depth
Chair seat pan depth sets how far the seat extends under your thighs—two to four finger widths behind the knees keeps hips neutral during long desk sessions.
Chair seat pan depth is the distance from the front edge of the seat to the backrest—ideally two to four finger widths between the edge and the back of your knees when feet are flat. Too deep pushes you forward and rounds the lower back; too shallow cuts thigh support and circulation.
Adjust depth before chasing lumbar gadgets. On fixed chairs, a seat cushion or rolled towel behind the hips can shorten effective depth.
Pair with hip-hinge desk reset when standing so you do not crane from a perched perch.

Use a firm cushion behind your hips to shorten effective depth, or add a footrest if your feet no longer reach the floor after scooting forward.
