Respiratory Muscle Training
Respiratory muscle training uses resisted breathing devices to strengthen inspiratory muscles in short daily sessions. It supplements—but does not replace—aerobic base work.
Respiratory muscle training strengthens inspiratory and expiratory muscles with resisted devices or protocols—useful for some athletes, singers, and people with certain lung conditions under clinician guidance. Sessions are brief, five days weekly, at submaximal loads.
It is not a substitute for cardio base.
