Personal Record (PR)
Your best performance on an exercise or metric (heaviest lift, fastest mile, etc.). PRs mark progress and help you plan the next training block.
A personal record (PR) is your best documented performance on a lift, distance, or metric—heaviest squat, fastest 5K, longest plank—at a given point in time. PRs matter because they turn vague progress into a measurable trend line and tell you whether a training block actually worked.
Chase them deliberately: test only when fresh, after a deload or taper, and favor rep PRs such as a five-rep max over risky maximal singles every month. A stall across several blocks is information about recovery, volume, or technique—not a verdict on you.
