Patellar Tendinopathy

Patellar tendinopathy is painful overload of the tendon below the kneecap, common in jumping sports. Recovery needs graded loading, not prolonged rest alone.

Patellar tendinopathy—often called jumper's knee—is load-related pain at the patellar tendon from repeated jumping, squat depth, or volume spikes. Rest alone rarely fixes it; progressive isometrics, slow eccentrics, and adjusted training volume rebuild capacity over months.

Monitor morning stiffness and pain during sport as progress markers.

Common questions

  • Can you train through patellar tendinopathy?

Often yes with modified loads—pain should settle within twenty-four hours and not worsen week to week. Stop sport-specific jumps until isometrics calm morning pain.
